Some Things to do Near Pells Gap.

FEB. 6 - Rappelling Basics - basic indoor and basic outdoor classes. The basics indoor class covers rappelling safety/rappelling gear and its application, rappelling knots and application, and rigging points needed for rappelling. The basics outdoor class reviews safety procedures, knots, gear, and rigging points; then teaches you how to safely rappel and do several rappels before returning to the store for the rappelling test and knot exam. Total cost $145 per person for both classes. FEB 7,8, & 9 Three day adventure including a wild cave tour, rock climbing, an extreme night hike and end with a relaxing canoe trip. Price, $137 per person, includes all activities, attractions, permits, fees, gear, and guides. Food and lodging are not included. FEB 10 - 250 feet night zip line adventure over a ravine and through the woods where your only light source is a headlamp and tiki torches. Pre-registration required, you get up to 2-3 zips per person. $25 per person.  FEB 11 - Come experience a rappelling adventure, the thrill of rappelling down the sheer sandstone gems of NE Alabama. Previous experience not required. Each trip includes all the gear plus basic instruction, $37 per person 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. FEB 11 - Extreme Night Hike, This end-of-day adventure does not slow down just because it's dark. Intended for a large group team-building exercise, this hike has a bit of blundering, some scrambling, some spelunking, and a whole lot of required working together. FEB 9, 10, 13, 16,17, & 18 - 17th annual dinner theater sponsored by The Children’s Advocacy Center presents "Guess Who Is Coming to Supper" written by Eddie McPherson. This is an event that can be enjoyed by the whole family, at the First United Methodist Church Life Center. FEB 11 - DeSoto State Park waterfall tour. Join DSP Staff for a fun day of hiking thought-out the park to see some of DeSoto’s waterfalls, big & small, Lost Falls, Laurel Falls & many more. Moderate terrain, meet at the Nature Center (Next to DeSoto’s Country Store). Bring a daypack with plenty of water/snacks, wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Topics include climate change, recycling, energy conservation, eco-gardening, exotic plants, native landscaping, pollution prevention, green energy, and more. “If you want world peace, work for justice”. That is a very good goal but what is meant by work for justice? First working for justice does not mean taking vengeance. Working for justice means making sure we give good measure. Doing the right thing. We don’t ask for justice for ourselves, we need mercy.
